Sixth of December’2004 was a
historic day in the books of
IFCOMA. None other than the founder & Chairman of the well known trend setter and Footwear Giant
“Bata Group” Mr. Thomas Bata, 90 along with his wife
Mrs. Sonja Bata visited the
Display Center of IFCOMA and was given a rousing welcome by the houseful of distinguished guests, hosts and students of
FDDI including
Shri Prem Seth (Ex & first Chairman of FDDI) and his wife
Mrs Leela Seth, Shri Tanvir Zafar Ali, Secretary, FDDI,
Shri VB Parvatikar, Technical Director,
IFCOMA President Shri Mani Almal, Management Committee of IFCOMA and the entire staff of
FDDI and IFCOMA.

Besides visiting the
FDDI Labs Mr. Thomas Bata did the
Shilanyas of the Common Facility Centre FDDI. He was accompanied by
Stephen J Davis, MD Bata India Limited &
Shri Jaswant Singh, Director (Marketing). A gathering of over 100 visitors including the students of FDDI and footwear fraternity were enlightened by the speeches of
Shri Prem Seth, Shri Tanvir Z Ali, Mr. Thomas Bata, Mr. Stephen Davis and IFCOMA President
Shri Mani Almal.
During the Interactive session that took place in the
IFCOMA Conference room, Mr. Bata expressed that he was overwhelmed by the warm welcome extended by IFCOMA and FDDI. He emphasized that IFCOMA’s is playing a
constructive role in improving the status of Component Industry. He insisted that IFCOMA members should
focus on their product quality and fight the competition coming from China tooth and nail. He also informed the house that potential across the world is growing and there is tremendous scope of improving business further.
The event was well covered by the Press including the
Sahara TV Channel followed by an open house dialogue.
The Bata team keenly observed the display centers Exhibit products. They were apprised of the new developments undertaken by the Component Industry.Members Directory, IFCOMA brochure and Newsletter was distributed to the team for reference and study.
