18th BSM AT KOLKATA - 2004

 

Mr.Roy Burman appreciated the efforts being put in by IFCOMA in bringing the footwear components industry in the limelight and improving quality of their products. He welcomed the idea of IFCOMA for opening of One stop resource centre so that all the components are made easily available to the small footwear manufacturers. He appreciated SIDBI for extending financial assistance to such SSI units which is the main constrains for industrial development.

Mr.B.D.Bhaiya, thanked all the distinguished guests for their advice and assured them that IFCOMA will put in continuous efforts to fulfill their suggestions.

There were over 60 participants who exhibited their products. There were more then 440 business visitors engaged in the shoe making to see for themselves the various quality footwear components available indigenously.

Shri Tanvir Zafar Ali Secretary,FDDI told that Footwear Manufacturers and Footwear Component Manufacturers Association must have meetings at frequent intervals to discuss the problems and solutions of trade. He assured for all support in the growth of footwear and component sector.

Shri R. K. Pandey, Regional Director, CLE was of the view that "minimum inventory system" has been introduced these days and component manufacturers should have godowns near the shoe factories. He further informed that CLE and IFCOMA delegation to Bangladesh for FTA and export promotion has been found very encouraging. Steps would taken to organise at least 2 BSM in these SAARC countries. He assured of CLE support to the Footwear Components Sector.

Shri N. K. Maini, CGM, SIDBI, Delhi informed that there are many financial assistance schemes launched by SIDBI for the SSI sector which must be availed of by the footwear and component sector. He propose to organise seminar for awareness of schemes for the Component Industry and suggested IFCOMA for benchmarking of Indian Footwear Components by ITC, Geneva with International Competitors.

Shri Nazir Ahmed emphasized the need for Quality, Price and Delivery of the Footwear Components. He informed that these factors have to be taken into account for future development and growth. Commitment from the Component industry for quality and timely supplies should be strong and both of them should work as partners for progress. He informed that " footwear units of Agra are going for large scale mechanisation for quality and volume production" and soon they will be able to meet the upper segment high fashion footwear production for export market. He requested IFCOMA to organise such event on yearly basis if not twice a year in view of the changing fashion and large scale demand from the Agra units.

IFCOMA made another milestone of achievement by launching its first newsletter named as ifcoma e-news during the inauguration ceremony. Mr Nazir Ahmed released the first pack of news letters and distributed to the Honorable Guests. Mr Pradeep Agarwal - member managing committee informed that this quarterly bulletin will be available on our web site ifcoma.org.
Shri Sanjay Gupta thanked the honorable guests, institutions, participants and media for making the event a success.

Later during the show, Mr Amir Hashmi Dy Manager, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Noida Branch which participated for the first time in IFCOMA BSM gave brief presentation of the services rendered by NSIC which was found to be very informative by the members / participants. The Corporation has many schemes for SSI sector and is working hard for its upliftment and as well in export promotion through their international warehousing facilities.
