The new concept of Buyers Seller Meet cum Exhibition (BSM) of footwear components and accessories to reach the smallest shoe manufacturers / exporters and buyers spread all over India at a very low cost of participation, is getting a tremendous boost and praise from all corners.

participants to this 6th BSM at national level and the 1st at Agra and requested them for their supports so that Indian footwear component industry can meet the expectations of our footwear manufacturers exporters.
The 6th AGRA BSM - 2000 was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Agarwal, chief editor of Amar Ujala, who has been taking active interest to present the industry problems before the govt. In his inaugural address Mr Agarwal said that the "Quality of shoes has improved |
in past one decades and the problems faced earlier after buying a new shoe has almost reduced." He however, praised IFCOMA for their efforts and said that shoe units should adopt latest production techniques & get it mechanized in line with the best of the world.
Honorable Shri N. M. Bajaj, (Chairman-Bremco group) in his address said that "India has made considerable progress in the footwear production and export and |

has been able to make its presence in the global footwear trade but however, we have to work seriously for the improvement of footwear components and develop them in line with global quality standard." He further stressed the need of "Sole mould" & other components, which are still imported to meet the export production.
The Chief Guest Mr.R.K.Sama, (Chairman U.P.Export Corpn) congratulated IFCOMA and NLDP for the achievements in the building up of the footwear component industry. He said "Each and every component is very important for a quality shoe" and referred their importance as each and every parts of our body. He further said that any defective or bad part causes the whole human body with a poor look and affects to enjoy the life with all parts of body. It is therefore, very important that shoe manufacturers uses better quality components so that footwear produced by them meets the most important need of consumer satisfaction, Mr Sama said.
Mr.Mani Almal President - IFCOMA thanked the NLDP and the members for their extensive support in the events of the association. He informed of various activities planned of national and international level under the NLDP - Side plan and the recently held 2nd Intechmart on footwear components during the Delhi Shoe Fair - 2000.
For the NLDP-INTECHMART, there were 15 leading shoe manufacturers invited from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, U.A.E, Mauritius and Philippines to visit the shoe component fair and had one to one meeting. He thanked Mr.Alok Sinha - MD - FDDI who headed the Shoe fair committee, for the excellent arrangement and said that our footwear components are not bad as had been projected in the past and there has been considerable growth in last 10 years and has excellent future potential.
"The exports of our components and accessories have started and we are confident that, given the same level playing field, we can do miracles in the domestic and exports of footwear components and accessories. The Intechmart was an eye opener and we shall have the fruits and expect the export to pick up sharply in the next 2-3 years." Mr Almal said on the future prospects.
He then announced the presentation of IFCOMA EXCELLENCE AWARD-2000 to Mr.M.S.Kohli, who has vast experience of 50 years and contributed in the growth of footwear industries of India and gave best possible guidance to the small and big shoe manufacturers. Mr. Kohli has earlier received various national awards for his excellent contribution to the footwear industry.
In his address Mr Almal further informed that to create more awareness of the Indian footwear component industry amongst the national and international shoe manufacturers it was important to have complete information about the sources. For this it was needed to have a directory of members with their contacts and product details and circulated at every national and international event. The Chief guest Mr.Sama then officially released the first IFCOMA DIRECTORY - 2000 of members and thanked IFCOMA for their efforts.
After the address Mr.Sachdeva assured the guests of the component industry making dedicated efforts to meet their requirements, thanked the honorable guests for their valuable guidance, participants, NLDP, members and press for their contribution in making the exhibition a great success. He then requested honorable guests to lighten the Lamp, which was then declared opened.
