IFCOMA 4th Buyer – Sellers meet cum Exhibition of Footwear Components
at Agra on 26th & 27th September 2004

 
The 4th Buyer Seller Meet in Agra opened with great fanfare and excitement on the 26th September’2004 at Hotel Holiday Inn, Agra. The event was inaugurated by Shri S.Audissesseiah, Executive Director-M/s Council for Leather Exports. The Guest of honours included dignitaries from Footwear Industry in AGRA.

In his welcome speech Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice President (North), IFCOMA informed the house that this is the 4th Buyer Seller Meet being organized by IFCOMA. So far IFCOMA has organized 19 Buyer Seller meets all over India including Kanpur, Mumbai, Jalandhar and Agra. With the assistance of CLE IFOCMA has been able to put up International BSM Show at Dhaka, Colombo, Vietnam & Syria . He also conveyed that IFCOMA has participated in some Int’l fairs including Garda, GDS and APLF-Hongkong in the past.

Mr Sanjay Gupta expressed thanks to CLE and Mr. Audisessiah for extending all the support to IFCOMA and making its programmes successful. He thanked Mr Audisessiah for including all the footwear components in the heading-Components where only upper was being considered earlier.

He expressed that growth of footwear components Industry is highly dependent upon Government policies and thus made an appeal to Mr. Audisessiah the need of exempting Excise duty on the footwear components. He emphasized that the matter may be taken up with highest level of Ministry of Commerce so as to bring relief to the industry and allow them to be stronger to face the uphill task-global competition.

Mr. Puran Dawar, Project Chairman (AFIIDCL) thanked IFCOMA for providing all information with respect to development in the footwear component Industry with one Single platform in the form of BSM. He suggested the idea of having this BSM twice in a year at AGRA to support the two seasonal sampling preparations for the Exporters and Manufacturers of AGRA. He underlined the fact that Component Industry is the backbone of the Footwear Industry and hence the two should work very closely.


He felt that why should we look upon the Govt. for all our needs; the current scenario demands component industry to be highly competitive and take the challenge being projected by China. He emphasized the need to change our concept and fight the competition tooth and nail.

He requested Mr. Audisessiah to see that the Component Industry gets a booster from the Govt. by rationalizing the Excise Duty factor and as a result energise, motivate the component industry to accelerate the pace of growth.

He also presented the details about the Component Park that is shortly coming up in AGRA with world class infrastructure and state of the art facilities.

Mr. Nazir Ahmed appreciated the efforts of IFCOMA and stressed the importance of Footwear and footwear Components manufacturers working as a team to move forward from here and meet the global Challenge.
