For the fifth time, the KANPUR BSM opened on the 6th December’2005 with some exciting participation and galore. This was IFCOMA’s 24th BSM in series, which invoked a positive response.The 5th Buyer Seller Meet at KANPUR was inaugurated by the doyen of the industry Mr. Irshad Mirza, Chief Guest along with Guests of honors Major General Vikram Madan, ADGEM & Shri Sanjay Jain, AGM SIDBI.
The Inaugural function started with welcoming the guests and presentation of bouquet followed by IFCOMA President’s Addressto the gathering.

He welcomed the guests, participants and visitors to this exhibition & impressed upon his views on the importance of the BSM in Kanpur. He apprised the audience about the successful BSM’s held in the current year at Vijaywada & Mumbai. He highlighted about IFCOMA’s exceptional visit to Pakistan during June’2005 wherein about 15participants from various parts of the country ventured to participate in the Pakistan International Exhibition "JUFT SHOE SHOW –2005"
It was an eventful trip to Lahore for the Indian delegation to have a wonderful exposure to the footwear industry in Pakistan. IFCOMA signed an agreement for co-operation with the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association.

The Pakistan Footwear Industry appreciated the Indian pavilion and a substantial business was transacted between the two countries during the fair. IFCOMA has plans to revisit Pakistan in near future.
He informed the gathering that after Kanpur we shall be taking up Ludhiana, Kolkata, Agra next year. Our BSMs' have been an eye opener for the organized as well as for the artisans and large spread unorganized Footwear Manufacturers. They have rightly created awareness and made direct linkage between the Buyers & Sellers of Components, Accessories Equipment and Institutions.

He informed the full house about the Integrated Leather development Scheme (ILDS) under the 10th Five year plan (2002-07) with an outlay of 290 crores for modernization and technology upgradation available to the Leather Industry namely tanneries, footwear, footwear components, leather goods & garments. The Scheme is being processed through Deptt. of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & industry,Govt of India. The Scheme is governed by the Steering Committee to ensure effective implementation of the scheme .
